We are urgently looking for:

  • Student Assistants for Research
    (All positions as student assistants announced here are considered as internal student jobs so that only students of our own faculty are meant to apply for)

    As a student assistant for research you will help to administer the infrastructure of the lab in Campus Building C6 3, Floor 10. The telecommunications lab receives it's audiovisual signals from various sources such as HDV cameras connected to H.264 encoders, digital terrestrial television receivers or digitally enabled satellite dishes (a fixed 120 cm and a pivotable 90 cm dish) which themselves feed two High Definition TV-enabled Media Servers (Windows resp. Linux-based).
    A Cisco Gigabit Switch transfers the video signals to the lab where an internal 802.11a media distribution makes the signals available to cross-platform media clients and wireless video projectors.

    Educational Requirements: Experience in open-source software and network setup, interest in traffic analysis for wired and wireless audiovisual networks as well as programming skills. The work could well lead towards Bachelor Seminar / Theses or Master Seminar / Thesis (resp. study work and diploma thesis for CuK).

     

  • Student Assistants for Education ("Bremser")

    As a student assistant for education you support the Telecommunications Lab's lectures. You will be responsible for tracking exercises and explain the reference solutions that will be given either on paper on in Matlab. This obviously is a very attractive opportunity to manifest your knowledge in telecommunications to ideally be prepared for future engagements at the lab (Student Assistant for Research or Master / Diploma Thesis).

    Educational Requirements: Bachelor resp. Vordiplom. You should also have documented your interest in the area by having attended one of our lectures or by credit points from lectures like "Mathematics for Engineers", "Basics in Electrical Engineering", "Signals & Systems" and similar. You should be (or at least be very interested in becoming) familiar with Matlab, Simulink and Toolboxes like the Signal Processing and Communication Toolbox.
